Housing and urban dynamics issues move to the rhythm of economic, demographic, social, technological and environmental change. This is a sizeable challenge and requires the involvement of all of the sector’s key players, including local communities, social housing bodies, department housing information agencies, urban planning agencies, real estate developers, builders, retirement homes, and more – a plethora of often contradictory phenomena at work. As the primary household expense, housing stands at the heart of debate and raises questions regarding price, quality, quantity, accessibility, inclusion, durability and so on. Economic tensions, the digital revolution, the health crisis, population ageing, and the climate emergency are reshaping our relationships with our habitat and our land planning, with citizens opting for different life choices out of conviction or obligation.

In this setting, dialogue must be conducted between the different parties involved in order to face the sector’s challenges, meet citizens’ needs and expectations, and pursue informed public policies, whether on a local or a national level.
