The impact of human activity on the balance of our planet’s ecosystems passed a new demographic milestone on 15 November 2022, a reminder (if one were needed) of the major challenges we face in the 21st century: climate change, loss of biodiversity, depletion of natural resources, damage to natural environments, and more, all forcing society to make some real choices in the way it consumes, produces, lives and moves around.

There are still many unknowns in terms of the ‘how’, but the approach of taking environmental issues into account in our practices (both individual and collective) seems to have begun to ensure a successful transition.

Accepting change

Following an increase in awareness, the French are more inclined to participate in the circular economy, take more responsibility for responsible consumption, and expect solutions that are more environmentally friendly.

There are various initiatives from economic stakeholders, the community world and public authorities to encourage lasting changes to our instinct for abundance, shifting towards more virtuous everyday behaviour.
